Thurston M. Taylor papers : court decree 1821.

Single item collection consisting of a decree declaring William Taylor be appointed as commissioner in the sale of a tract of land in Jefferson County, Kentucky. The decree is dated, "Clark Circuit Sct. September term 1821." On the third page of the document is a note to Taylor from Willis Collins. Collins asked Taylor to excute the decree posthaste. The note is dated Nov. 28, 1821.

Thruston M. Taylor passes away naming Willis Collins guardian of his two infant children, Francis and Thruston. They remained in the care of his wife, Elizabeth. Collins obtained the decree to sale 100 acres of the children's inheritance for the "furter prospect and advancement in life of said infants." From the description of Thurston M. William Berry Taylor was a lawyer and land speculator who migrated from Botetourt County, Virginia, to Shelby County, Kentucky, in the late eighteenth century. After migrating, Taylor continued to practice law in Virginia as well as Kentucky. Taylor was part of the influential Taylor family that included Colonel Richard Taylor, the James Taylor's, and Zachary Taylor.
